Obituary

Joseph John West Sr. age 91, of Mantua passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Joe is survived by his best girl and beloved wife Sarah (nee Weise), his son Joseph (Marilee), daughters Denise (Thomas), Fran (Frank), Patti (Doug), and Sarah (Donald), 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, his brother Richard (Frances), and many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents James Lee and Mary (nee Hopkins) and his brother James Lee West.

Joe was born on July 25th, 1927 and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, he moved his family to New Jersey in the mid 1960s. Joe worked as a delivery driver at Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist in the late 1960s and retired in 1992 from Boeing in Ridley Park, PA where he was a Templet Maker. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking his children and later his grandchildren out to enjoy his favorite pastime with him. He enjoyed listening to a variety of music from the 50's & 60's to Lawrence Welk to the musical artist Prince.

The West family would like to thank the Hospice team from Bayada for their love and comfort during this difficult time.

Family and Friends may visit from 10 am to 11 am on Monday, February 18th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
