Obituary for Joseph J. Bennett Sr.

Joseph J. Bennett, Sr., age 85 of Wenonah, passed away Friday, November 16th, 2012. Born inPhiladelphia, he had been a resident of Wenonah for 48 years.  Joe served in the Army during WWII and worked as a longshoreman for several different companies.  He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation, the Incarnation Seniors Club, and Boy Scouts of America.  He enjoyed going to the casinos, the beach in Wildwood, gardening at his home, fishing, and especially crabbing.  Beloved husband of the late Emma R. (nee McGovern), he is survived by his children, Joe Jr. and his wife Lisa of N. Myrtle Beach and their children, Matthew & Michaela, Richard and his wife Pam of Washington Twp. and their children Andrew & Emily, Teresa Madgey and her husband Bill of Washington Twp. and their children, Billy, Maria, Kevin, Marie, Brian, & Sean, and their grandchildren, Lia, Joshua, Adriana, & Joseph, Jean Maher and her husband Mike of Mantua and their children, Ryan & Timmy, Carolyn Jeffers and her husband Tom of Houston, TX and their children, Erica, Chris, Kimberly & Megan, and Louise Dobbins and her husband Tom of West Deptford and their children, Tommy, Chris, Will, & Dan, and his sister, Dorothy Fidell of Philadelphia.  Joe was predeceased by his brothers Francis and Stephen Bennett. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:45-11:00 AM Monday, November 19th, at Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:15 AM.  Interment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.Contributions in Joseph's memory may be made to South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Care, PO Box 160,Bridgeton, NJ 08302.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
